Oliver / Materials

We specify against numbers, not adjectives.

Every material below is chosen for a reason we can put in writing. If your specification calls for something else, we will build to it and tell you honestly how it will behave.

Substrates

What the cabinet is actually made of, which nobody sees and everything depends on.

Marine-grade plywoodVoid-free hardwood core, exterior-rated glue line. Standard for anything within reach of a coastline, a bathroom or a wine cellar. It costs more than the alternative and it is the reason our carcasses do not delaminate in a South Florida summer.
MDF coreUsed where a surface has to be dead flat under lacquer, which is most lacquered work. Moisture-resistant grade in wet areas. Never used as a structural carcass in humid rooms.
Solid hardwoodFrames, edges, and anything that takes a knock. Kiln-dried to 7 to 9 percent moisture content and acclimatised on site before install.
Acoustic substrateHome theaters and media rooms. Perforated or slotted panel over mineral wool, specified against a target absorption coefficient rather than an appearance.

Finishes

The part the client touches, and the part that gets judged in the first ten seconds.

Natural veneerSequence-matched from a single flitch. We buy the flitch before the job starts, not when the drawings are approved, because the log you need is not always the log that is available.
Matte lacquerTwo-component polyurethane, sprayed in our own booth. Typical sheen 5 to 15 gloss units. Repairable on site, which a foil wrap is not.
Gloss lacquerPolished to 90 plus gloss units. Requires a flatter substrate and more coats, and shows every defect underneath, which is why it is priced differently.
Nanotech surfacesAnti-fingerprint and scratch-resistant panel finishes with published technical data. We supply the data sheet, so the specifier is choosing against numbers rather than a sample chip.

Hardware

Movement is where cabinetry fails first. We over-specify it on purpose.

Runners and hingesFull-extension soft-close runners rated to 40 kg or above, and hinges with a published cycle count. We do not switch brands mid-project to hit a number.
LightingLow-voltage LED in an accessible channel. The driver is reachable without dismantling the cabinet, because the light will fail before the millwork does.
MetalworkIf your millwork specification includes metal, we provide it. Anything that forms part of the joinery, including mirrors, metalwork and upholstered panels, we can source and fit locally so it arrives as one finished piece.

Sourcing and certification

Documentation supplied with every project, not on request.

Certified timberOur timber and panel stock carries recognised environmental certification.
EmissionsPanel products selected against formaldehyde emission standards suitable for residential interiors. Data sheets included in the submittal package.
Samples

See it before you specify it.

Finish samples are available at the North Miami Beach showroom. Call ahead with the project type and we will pull the relevant panels, veneer leaves and hardware before you arrive rather than after.

For specifiers outside South Florida we ship a sample set with the technical data sheets attached.

Start a project

Send us the drawings, or just the room.

We quote from architectural drawings, a set of dimensions, or a site visit. Tell us the rooms, the finish direction and the date the space needs to be complete, and we will come back with a scope and a schedule.
